If you are able to stay in Hamburg, you will often receive a temporary residence permit (Fiktionsbescheinigung) relatively quickly. You will find out quickly whether you are to stay in Hamburg or be transferred to another German state.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-one-half fusion-layout-column fusion-column-last fusion-spacing-yes\" style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><p>If your asylum procedures take place in Hamburg, you will usually be taken to another initial reception centre (Erstaufnahmeeinrichtung) after a few days.<\/p>\n<p>During the initial reception process, you live with other refugees and always receive non-cash benefits (meals, clothing, etc.) and medical care. You can find more information here: <a href=\"https:\/\/we-inform.de\/portal\/en\/financial-support\/\">https:\/\/we-inform.de\/portal\/en\/financial-support\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When you are applying for asylum, you must first live in an initial reception centre (Erstaufnahmeeinrichtung), usually for a maximum of 18\u00a0months.<\/p>\n<p>As long as you are obliged to live in an initial reception centre, you need to stay in Hamburg and are not allowed to travel to other countries or other parts of Germany (Residenzpflicht, residence obligation; r\u00e4umliche Beschr\u00e4nkung, spatial restriction). If you still want to leave Hamburg for a while for important reasons, you will need a permit from the BAMF (Bundesamt f\u00fcr Migration und Fl\u00fcchtlinge, Federal Office for Migration and Refugees). You must submit a request stating from when to when, where (names, addresses) and for what reason you wish to leave Hamburg. You can send your request by e-mail (service@bamf.bund.de) or by post (Bundesamt f\u00fcr Migration und Fl\u00fcchtlinge, Ankunftszentrum, Barkoppelstieg 10-14 or Bundesamt f\u00fcr Migration und Fl\u00fcchtlinge, Concordiahaus B, Sachsenstra\u00dfe 12+14). You do not have to submit a request if you are leaving Hamburg because you have an appointment with an authority or at a court. However, you must then notify your initial reception centre and the BAMF (by e-mail or post). This will probably happen after you received a residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis \/ a positive decision regarding your asylum application) or after up to 18 months.<\/p>\n<p>You will continue living with other refugees in a secondary accommodation (Folgeunterkunft). Hamburg residents who have lost their apartment live in\u00a0public accommodations as well.<\/p>\n<p>There are residential containers, modular houses, pavilions and permanent dwellings.<\/p>\n<p>Families (and couples) stay together if possible.<\/p>\n<p>There are also accommodations that are structured like proper apartments: six people live in three rooms with a refrigerator, cooker, shower and toilet. Those travelling<\/p>\n<p>alone share rooms as they would do in a shared apartment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-one-half fusion-layout-column fusion-column-last fusion-spacing-yes\" style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><p>A secondary accommodation (Folgeunterkunft) offers a little more privacy than the initial reception centre (Erstaufnahmeeinrichtung) and there is counselling available onsite. You can also get in touch with your neighbours and volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>During the stay in the secondary accommodation (Folgeunterkunft), you shop for yourself and take care of your household. You are generally allowed to stay in Germany for 90 days without a visa (Visum). It makes sense to register quickly because only then will you be allowed to work, receive state support or receive medical care (you can find more information on the subject of work here: <a href=\"https:\/\/we-inform.de\/portal\/en\/work\/\">https:\/\/we-inform.de\/portal\/en\/work\/<\/a>. Please make an appointment. You can do this by sending an e-mail with a copy of your Ukrainian passport, a copy of your confirmation of registration and the completed Anmeldebogen f\u00fcr Schutzsuchende (registration form for protection seekers) in Latin script attached: <a href=\"mailto:termineerstregistrierungm4@amtfuermigration.hamburg.de\">termineerstregistrierungm4@amtfuermigration.hamburg.de<\/a>. Bring your original passport, original confirmation of registration and the completed registration form with you to registration.  Your passport will be copied. It will then be returned to you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Identity document: If you do not have a passport or other Ukrainian identity document, send other documents which can prove that you were in Ukraine and lived there. The Office for Migration (Hammer Stra\u00dfe 30-34) can issue you with a replacement identity document. However, the replacement ID card is only valid in Germany and you cannot use it to travel to other countries. The Ukrainian embassy in Berlin may be able to issue you with a new passport: Ukrainian Embassy, Albrechtstra\u00dfe 26, 10117 Berlin, +49 30 28887128.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Confirmation of registration: You will receive a confirmation of registration if you have reported your address to the relevant district office (\u2018Ihren Wohnsitz melden\u2019).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Additionally, you should inform the responsible district office (Bezirksamt) of where you live (&#8222;register your residence&#8220;, &#8222;register your residence&#8220;).
